The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the independent film industry is evident worldwide. Streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video are now more than ever establishing themselves as spaces for independent filmmakers to leverage the massive reach of these platforms and the potential impact their films can create. Especially with everyone staying home, THIS is the time for people to see independent films that they normally wouldn’t have the time to see.
While we’re staying home and keeping ourselves and everyone else safe, I’ve put together a list of the best independent films (documentary and narrative) that are now streaming and deserve to find an audience. While there are great digital rental titles like Eliza Hittman’s NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS (which everyone should rent ASAP), here’s a list of about 30 excellent impact-driven narrative and documentary films now streaming for free if you have subscriptions (or access) to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video:
